Home-based business Action Program
Running a home-based business can be exciting and challenging, with potential for growth, change and great rewards. The Home-based Business Action Programs provide opportunities to experienced home-based business operators to expand and improve their business. The programs equip operators with the essential tools and expertise to strategically plan their business direction.
The following programs are available:
- business planning - delivered by the Snowy Monaro BEC in April to June 2007
- marketing - to be delivered by the Snowy Monaro BEC in early 2008
- better systems - no date is set for program delivery in Cooma
Home-based business operators can participate in more than one program.
Each program is delivered in small groups over two to three months and consists of:
- a series of four three-hour intensive workshops that examine up-to-date business concepts and planning tools
- a three-hour intensive group review clinic that provides opportunities to apply the business tools and promotes shared learning.
Programs are outcome-focused, involve take-home activities and team support structures and provide networking opportunities.

What participants say
"The area of technology and equipment was particularly useful learning how to work smarter, rather than harder, and how to improve and streamline our processes. This methodology will help us to manage even further growth. I'd recommend the program to all home-based business operators who want to increase their productivity and efficiency."

"The Marketing program gave me the opportunity to determine the specific section of the market that I wanted my business to fit into and to identify the clients that I wanted to attract. It also enabled me to pinpoint issues that had been holding back my business growth."
Laima Karklins, Events at Large
Marketing, Baulkham Hills 2006
"I completed all three programs. As a result, my business has really moved forward and I will be employing my first staff member shortly. My main focus now is on the operations and procedures in my business. The Better Systems program highlighted how important procedures are. Of course, knowing where I want the business to go is essential, and now that I have a goal in mind, I feel that I have something to really strive towards."
