BEC Privacy Policy
The Snowy Monaro Business Enterprise Centre Inc is committed to protecting the privacy of our members and other individuals who deal with the Association. Our Privacy Policy has been developed to comply with the Privacy Amendment Act of 2000, and in the interests of respective member's privacy.
What information does the BEC Association Collect and Hold?
As part of our responsibility as an incorporated association the Snowy Monaro BEC will maintain a Register of Membership which includes name, address, nominated contact details and date on which the organisation became a member.
The BEC will also collect contact details of the businesses, organisations and clients that may assist the development of the region.
From time to time the BEC will collect case studies from its clients and with their permission publish them on our website.
National information may be made available for the sole purpose of furthering the aims and objectives of the BEC Association and its members.
The BEC Association will not collect personal information unless the information is necessary for one or more of its functions and activities. The BEC Association will collect personal information by lawful and fair means only and in a manner that is not unreasonably intrusive.
How the BEC Association collects information
We collect and hold information about people who access our services or make enquiries and provide us with their details. For face to face enquiries or services they complete a confidentiality statement. For those who contact us via our website they:
- Complete an online enquiry form
- Provide us with their email address
- Access and use resources provided online
The information is forwarded to the relevant person or Business Enterprise Centre who is able to answer the query or provide the required assistance.
We also collect some statistical information about visitors from our website, (for example, the number of visitors, pages viewed, time online, documents downloaded), but none of this statistical information we collect allows us to identify a visitor. We use this information to evaluate our website performance and continually improve our services.
Other than statistical information, we do not collect information about visitors to our websites unless the information is provided by the visitor.
How may the BEC Association use the information provided
The BEC Association uses the information collected for purposes including:
- Respond to your request Opening and administering member records
- Providing services and products to members and non-members
- Promoting the BEC Association activities and services
- Promotion of statistics and services provided to small business intenders and operators on a regional basis only
- To meet contractual obligations of projects and programs funded by Government agencies or private organisations
- Providing information as requested by BEC Australia for national statistical purposes
When we request information we may give more specific details about the way we use your information.
As a general rule the BEC Association will not use or disclose personal information about an individual or member organisation other than for its primary purpose unless:
- The individual or member organisation has consented to the use of the disclosure; or
- The use is required or authorised by or under law; or
- There is reason to suspect that unlawful activity has, or may be, engaged in and the BEC Association uses or discloses the information as a necessary part of its investigation of the matter or in reporting its concerns to relevant persons or authorities; or
- The BEC Association reasonably believes the use or disclosure is necessary for a specified purpose by or on behalf of an enforcement body.
The BEC Association will use the information for our own direct marketing purposes only where:
- It is impractical to seek the individual's consent before that particular use
- The individual has not made a request not to receive direct marketing communications
- Each direct marketing communication displays a notice, that the individual may request not to receive any further direct marketing communication, and
- Each communication includes the BEC Association mailing address and contact details.
Managing your information
The BEC Association will take reasonable steps to ensure the information it collects, uses or discloses is accurate, complete and up to date.
The BEC Association will take reasonable steps to protect the information it holds from misuse and loss from unauthorised access, modification and disclosure.
The BEC Association is unable to guarantee the security of any information transmitted to and from an on-line transaction.
Access to your information
You can request access at any time to information we hold about you. We will process your request within a reasonable time. The BEC Association may impose a charge to cover the cost of verifying a request for information and locating, retrieving and copying any material requested.
